WIPFAB

Journal publications

1 June 2015

May and June were a busy time for publications in the WIPFAB project!  Vinita Mittal et al. published 'Fabrication and characterization of high-contrast mid-infrared GeTe4 channel waveguides' in Optics Letters (link).  This is an extremely important piece of work demonstrating high-index contrast waveguides that can be used as evanescent field sensors, adding to the WIPFAB arsenal of tools for biomedical diagnostics.

In the June issue of Optics Express, Alina Karabchevsky et al. published 'Transmittance and surface intensity in 3D composite plasmonic waveguides' (link).  The article is a study of modal behaviour when long dielectric waveguides have a short gold-coated section, and forms part of the theorectical basis of the WIPFAB nanostructuring theme.
